We study the signaling pathways through which monoamines (norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin and histamine) and glucocorticoid hormones (cortisol and corticosterone) reshape brain function in response to arousing and stressful events. Our goal is to learn how these signaling pathways contribute to successful adaptation to stress, and how dysregulation of these pathways contributes to neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.
