Our current research projects are focused on understanding interactions between corticosteroid hormones and monoamine neurotransmitters in the regulation of neuronal and glial function. Specifically, we are examining the role of organic cation transporter 3 (OCT3), a high capacity transporter for monoamines that is directly inhibited by corticosteroids, in regulating signaling processes initiated by dopamine and norepinephrine.
